I Wonder What They’ll Find?

I hate to harp on but I’m fascinated by the current attempt to land a vehicle on a comet. First of all I can’t imagine the maths required to do that. Secondly, the builders certainly did something right. The spacecraft, Rosetta, has been dormant for nearly 3 years, travelling around the sun five times during that time. And it still works! Clearly someone made it just right.

If they can land the probe, called Philae, we will be giving back to the aliens what they’ve apparently been doing to us for a long time – probing for evidence of life. Seriously, when Philae lands it will be performing organic chemical experiments looking for signs of life. By implication I’ve already committed to the fact that life exists on meteors and comets in my novels. Let’s hope that if they discover little crawly things they won’t try to bring them back here alive. We’ve all seen what happens when they try to do that!

We have about seven or eight months before a landing on the comet (67P/Churyumov–Gerasimenko, a very memorable name – babies will be named after it I’m sure) so to all you Preppers and worry-warts – you have a window of opportunity to get ready for the Truth – it really is out there.
