And so the new season has begun. How do we know this? Because the walking dead are lurking under the streets of New York.
It’s a great stunt; it’s also fun to watch the victims of the prank jumping back in fright and swearing. I’m just glad I’ve not been a victim – yet. Unfortunately us Brits are behind in TWD seasons – I haven’t even seen season 4 yet although I’ve heard it is a significant step up in quality on most of season 3 (with one or two exceptions, William Sibley-Hart!).
Instead of watching TWD, I’ve been trying to watch with failing enthusiasm ‘The Sky Is Falling’, although I’m sorry to say that in my opinion it isn’t a patch on even the worst of TWD. For example, everyone is too calm, the invaders seem to be quite happy to take over the major towns in vast numbers but do they pursue those that might bring them harm by resisting? No. Instead our trusty human heroes set up camp in a school more or less within sight of a major city, over which hovers the supposed means of our destruction. The sentinels on the ground look like they’ve been borrowed from Robocop (they make a huge noise when approaching so it’s easy to avoid them) and I’ve seen scarier multi-legged creatures in ‘Starship Troopers’ – here’s an interesting thought, I can’t make my mind up which has the worst acting. That’s not entirely fair; perhaps it’s just feels under par because it hasn’t been brought to screen very effectively – there are large tracts where nothing happens. It really could be so much better.
Anyway folks, I hope you enjoy the new season of TWD – please don’t tell me the plot – we’ll get it eventually!
